My hero is not someone who has faced war or has saved many lives from a burning building. No, my hero lives among us. Just like you and I. She has an average life but has changed mine greatly. I first met my hero about 2 years ago when I was 12. It took me 6 months to actually start talking just about little things like the weather and get over my shyness. I realized that no matter what, she wasn't going to change her thoughts about me no matter what I told her. So finally I opened up and told her things no one knew about me. She didn't change her mind one bit. She listened and helped me through some tough times and still does. She has made a huge impact on my life and I am very proud to call her a friend. I know that she is someone I can trust to talk to about anything. She has opened my eyes and showed me what I am capable of. Now at age 14 and knowing that she will always be there for me is like knowing someone will catch you when you fall.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
