Miss Tillie is a wonderful lady who spent 20+ years with AT&T as a trainer and lived in several locations around the world, including Africa. When she retired, she became involved in consulting and working with shelters and homes for women who were battered, abused and often times addicted.
She observed that the women were fine as long as they were in the environment of the shelter, but once they got out into the world, they fell back into the same unhealthy behavior and surroundings.
Miss Tillie believes that if women go through the proper program for overcoming their abuses and addictions and go through a job training program, they will have the skills for employment, a stronger self-esteem and they will not be dependent on handouts for survival. She began the program, funding it herself, working tirelessly to help these women become independent, and enabling many of them to keep their children.
The program is source of light for those in need, a bridge to a quality life, and a door to a productive future. In a recent class, 90% of the participants were placed in jobs helping them on their journey to independence.
Miss Tillie is devoted, committed, focused and loving as she surrounds herself with women in need. Her staff is giving, sharing, caring and they have the same commitment to helping women overcome the challenges life has put in their path.
It is inspiring to be around her, with her upbeat and positive attitude. She is the embodiment of a selfless, loving person. People are attracted to her because of her spirit.
