My friend Julie, showed character, compassion, strength and faith in her last days of battling a progressive cancer that took her life. Julie had a husband and 4 children. I used to live a life of a practicing addict and in those days she would allow me to visit her church with her family (knowing I would go back to my addictive lifestyle). Julie was my prayer warrior. When I celebrated 3 months of clean time, I gave her my coin. She was always concerned about what other people were feeling. She allowed a newspaper in her hometown to follow her story in the last weeks of her life so people would see what faith looked like. Julie stood tall in her darkest hours and was concerned about others. I remember the last time I saw her, I was crying and she consoled me about what was going to happen. She died peacefully in her husbands arms. Julie truly inspired me to be a better human being and to be available when someone is in need. She also taught me to have faith, no matter what. It's been years since she died but I think of her every time I wash my hair: she was my hairstylist and she will always be with me. I miss her very much and will never forget her strength and compassion to me and all others.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
