Georgette Reed is an inspirational and outstanding athlete across Canada. I first met her seven years ago when I started competing at indoor track and field meets at the Butterdome in Edmonton, AB. Back then, she was still doing a few competitions and was built like a thrower. Now she has taken on coaching at the U of A Track and Field Club. My coach and Georgette are extremely good friends so this past summer I got the opportunity to train with her in Edmonton. Working with Georgette helped me a lot with my shot put technique because she was very patient and broke everything down. I see her at every meet I attend and she always comes to ask how my training has been going. Georgette is one of my heroes because she pursued her dream in track and field her whole life and she inspires me to be more like her and follow my dreams.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
