My mother in law. I don't know what to say about her really. Ok, yes I do. This is a woman whose husband had left her for her aunt, while she was raising 3 daughters. So for several years, she was a single mother, until she met my father in law. He is just a wonderful man. But back to my mother in law, she has overcome and done so much in her life. She has overcome not one, not two but three addictions. She is an alcoholic who hasn't drank in over 20 years, she is a recovered gambler, and has not smoked in almost 10 years. She had to retire early, watched several members of her family die, and still, she has gone through all of this worrying about everyone else, trying to take care of other people.
My mother in law has taken me on like I am her own daughter, accepted my oldest child as her own grandchild, and loves all of mine and my husbands children equally. She is an amazing person and I love her very much. She is the mother I never had growing up.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
