Hoby caught my attention in a graduate chemistry class by being the first student to begin questioning our instructor. Throughout the weeks, he impressed me with the quality of his questions which belied the depth of his knowledge. After a few weeks, I had to get to know this person, so I introduced myself after a particularly inspiring class. He responded in a friendly manner and felt around for the hand I had offered. Hoby is blind, and I also found out that day, an undergraduate! I couldn't (and still can't) imagine picturing reaction mechanisms and orbital interactions in my head without the aid of pen and paper.
He recently hosted a chemistry camp for blind high school students which encouraged them to pursue disciplines, that in years past, would have been been inaccessible to them. I am inspired by his drive, passion and determination; I'm sure I'm not the only one :)

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
