My husband died when my daughter was 16. I collapsed emotionally and all I could do was work 12 hours a day 7 days a week. She picked up our lives and made sure her 13 year old brother went to school and graduated. Three years later I had a stroke on my 50th birthday. My Alex worked and supported the 3 of us through 10 years of pain and loss in my decent into alcoholism. I am now 3 years sober and getting our lives back on track. But we could not, I could not, have come to this point in my life of healing and hope without her care, love, and and hard work. My daughter is my hero.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
