I have known Octavia Roberts all of my life and I must say she has not had it easy. Her mother passed of cancer when she was six years old, therefore she had to be raised by family members. However, the loss of her mother was so devastating, she rebelled against her family and ran away from home at the age of 12. To make a long story short, by the time she was 16 years old she had already been beaten, stabbed, a teenage mother and a high school drop out. She got involved with the wrong people and ended up selling drugs to make sure she could take care of herself and her two little ones. Now Octavia Roberts is a wife, mother of six, entrepreneur, and a co-pastor of a ministry. The rebellious, angry, hurt little girl that destroyed the community and nearly herself now ministers to other people on the importance of love and forgiveness. The same community that counted her out are now embracing her with open arms. Many people ask what happened? How did she change? Her reply has always been the same: because God loved me and I believed it. She is my hero. Therefore, it is with great admiration I introduce to you my friend, my sister, Octavia Roberts.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
