Derek D. Bardell is a veteran educator in the Greater New Orleans Metropolitan Area who currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Business Administration and Teaching & Learning at Delgado Community College. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management/Urban Studies and Public Policy from Dillard University and a Master of Liberal Arts in Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts and a Master of Arts in Civic and Cultural Management both from Tulane University. He is also the recipient of the prestigious Higher One Financial Literacy Grant.
Professor Bardell is certified by the Louisiana Department of Education as an Educational Administrator and Supervisor of Instruction. His research interests lie in the areas of higher education management and organizational development and his experience in education spans nearly two decades at the K-16 levels where he has served as an instructor, administrator, consultant and policy maker. He also holds memberships in Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science, Omicron Delta Epsilon Economics, Golden Key Scholastic, Sigma Tau Delta English, Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership, Alpha Kappa Mu Scholastic, Phi Delta Kappa Education, Sigma Iota Epsilon Management and Pi Gamma Mu Social Sciences Honor Societies.
Further, he has received awards and accolades from the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship, the Children’s Defense Fund, the Delgado Community College Chancellor’s Office, the Louisiana Governor’s Office, the League for Innovation in the Community College, the Louisiana Association of Computer Using Educators, the Jefferson Parish Council, the New Orleans City Council, the New Orleans Mayor’s Office, the Louisiana State Senate, the Louisiana House of Representatives, Gambit Weekly Magazine, Tribune Magazine, the Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, the New Orleans Data News Weekly, the Times Picayune Newspaper and the University of Kentucky College of Education.
Derek also serves as Chair of the Delgado Community College Care and Development of Young Children Board of Advisors and as the Vice Chair of the French and Montessori Education (FAME) Board of Directors which governs Audubon Charter School and its $7.5 million budget and his name is synonymous with all things education.
