A role model is defined as an individual who is looked up to and revered by someone else. One person that I look up to is my cousin Deanna Schlies. She has done many things in her life and accomplished so much. She inspires me with everything that she does, and supports me in everything that I choose to do.
One of the main reasons that I admire my cousin is because of all the hard work she has done to get where she is. She graduated from Denmark High School as a member of the National Honor Society, winning the FFA MVP Award, and with many scholarships. She worked extremely hard to graduate Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, and is now living out her dream as being a music teacher for high school students at Mishicot High School.
Another reason Deanna is my role model is because she is very ambitious. I like to take on many challenges just as she does. This past year Deanna was crowned the 2015 Wisconsin State Fairest of the Fairs. This is a great honor that takes a big commitment as she was promoting fairs all summer and attending over 50 of the 72 county fairs. By being the Fairest of the Fairs she was chosen as one of the 20 Women to Know in the Green Bay Area, where they select 20 women each year who have made a difference in the community and should be known. She was also the Wisconsin State FFA Choir Director, all of these are things that she chose to do on top of an already busy schedule.
The last but one of the most important reason my cousin is my role model is because she supports me in everything that I do. She recently agreed to be my confirmation sponsor which is a big deal and it shows that she supports my decision to become a confirmed Catholic and that she is willing to help me reach my goals. But not only does she support me, I support her, by attending musicals she directs and being there for milestones in her life as she is for mine. She recently asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding next fall and I am excited to support her in an extremely important day in her life.
My cousin Deanna is one of my biggest role models in life because of all the hard work she has put in to be where she is in her life, because of all of the challenges she takes on on a daily basis, and finally because she supports me in everything I do. I am very thankful to have her in my life and I hope that one day I am as great of a person as her.
