My birth father died when I was 5 years old. He died active military, while stationed in Hawaii. My mom moved 3 girls, myself, her other daughter, and my birth fathers daughter back to Texas. She met the man I call dad at parents without partners, a military function, and that was the greatest day of my life. I am 38 years old, he is now 78 years old and my life without him I can not imagine. He has served our country selflessly and given to my mother, whom he has provided for, with no regrets. He is 78 years old he had retired from the military, from Lockheed, and now drives a truck. He has given to our whole family and continues to do so. He has watched his beloved friends from combat did, his brother,etc... And never gives up. I am nominating him for many reasons but ultimately because he loved our country, My mom, my sisters, Me, and our children and NEVER wanted anything in return. He loved us NOT because he had to but because he chose to, just like he chose to fight and love our country.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
