“A hero is somebody who is selfless, who is generous in spirit, who just tries to give back as much as possible and help people. A hero to me is someone who saves people and really cares,”-Debi Mazar. My mama is always looking for an opportunity to help someone in need and a way to give back to her community.
My mama has dark brown eyes, and skin with straight hair and beautiful navy blue, and brown glasses. She loves to wear her black Queens Inspire Kings sweatshirt, and scarves she crocheted herself. She is always kind to everyone, and is the person to go to when you are in a hard situation. If someone is mistreating someone else, she is not afraid to speak up and get her point across. My mama makes the best Thanksgiving dinner and is a great motivator. And of course she cooks, cleans and most of all takes care of her family.
Mama has done month's worth of volunteer work trying to help the community. Last year she worked at North Bay almost every day and she came in even on the days she wasn’t scheduled to work. During the summer my mama went to a homeless shelter and piled mountains of food onto everyone's trays. She also talked to them and treated them like any other person should be treated. The other ladies who volunteered complimented her on the food she brang and said it would be great for her to come back again to serve the homeless.
Now about a year later my mama is trying to learn Creole so she can do volunteer work in other states and eventually other countries. Mama is always working to take care of someone who has less than her, and brighten their day. Through her whole life she has had to overcome obstacles that have led her to where she is today. There are obstacles that she is facing now but she handles them like nothing. I’m always very proud of my mama because even when we are all struggling she looks at the bright side of things, with thanks God for what she does have and prays for what she needs.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
