My mom was a waitress. I knew, early on, how hard her job was. And how little she got paid, relying on meager tips. Now that I am an adult, for many years I have chosen a restaurant to go to just days before Christmas. I choose a less expensive place, where the waitresses/servers likely make less in tips. After my meal, I leave an extra large tip ($20) with a note saying "Merry Christmas". I don't have a lot of money, but I have always had a soft place in my heart for waitresses.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
