I've been donating blood to the Red Cross for many years. A total of 54 units. I know I am helping people but never give it much thought. I think it's a nice way to give back. One day at my son's house his friends came to visit. They have a very sick little one and a half year old son. They were talking about his illness and how at one time he needed a blood transfusion. Out of curiosity I asked his blood type. It was the same as mine, A-. I had all to do to keep the tears back. Giving blood has a whole new meaning for me. I'm looking forward to my next donation.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
