My dad is stubborn, yet a very loving and caring individual. He and my mom are going through the process of a divorce, so I don't get to see either of them as much as I am used to. I call either of my parents nightly when I am not at their house, see how their day went, talk about my day, the usual stuff. This morning I woke up to a text from one of my best friends saying " Who's excited for a snow day?! :)" My initial reaction was why on earth would we have a snow day? It was not supposed to snow last night. My second reaction was this is not true. So I called my dad to make sure what I heard was correct. Sure enough it was. After finding this news out, I fell back asleep almost immediately. My dad had said to call him when I woke up. About two hours passed, and I woke up. Immediately, I called him to talk to him more. No answer. I figured he was just out running errands, so I left a message. I called him multiple times on his work, house, and cell phones. Still, no answer. Around noon I got worried. He should have answered something by now. So I decided I would go to make sure he was okay. After I got over there, I was immediately worried because he was still at home, which is not normal for the time I was there. I ran to his room and asked if he was okay, he replied "I'm sick again." I said okay and figured that was the case since he had a stomach flu a month ago. The more I thought about it, I realized it wasn’t just the stomach flu again. It was something else. He had a stroke because of a brain aneurysm. I could tell from the classic symptoms. My love for Grey's Anatomy and my interest in the medical field was paying off. His stubbornness had kicked in. He told me he was fine, just sick. I immediately called my mom and told her what had happened. She left work immediately and rushed to his house. We called the ambulance and they sped him to the hospital. I then came to realize the reason we had a snow day. Maybe because of the bad roads, but also so that I could save my dad's life. Otherwise I would have gotten home from school to most likely find out he was dead. Sure, a brain aneurysm is not ideal by any means, but God chose this day for me to be home from school and gave me the opportunity to help my dad. He is going to have a long recovery, but it is more important to me that he is alive right now.
