My 8 year old son, Ben, was siting in the back seat of the car last week on the way to religious education class. He said," Mommy, I saw a commercial last night that said someone grew a huge squash. They took the squash to the homeless shelter and it fed 100 people. So I was thinking, if one squash could feed 100, imagine what 2 could do? Our school has a big grass area, maybe they will plant a tree and give the fruit to the hungry. With all the open land, there is no reason for anyone not to eat."
I was immediately brought to tears, and just said your right, that is a wonderful idea.
When we arrived at class he walked right up to the teacher and made his suggestion. To my surprise she blew him off, saying they had no time. The next day he walked into the school principal's office and made his suggestion, and again was shot down. I felt so bad for him, and took him aside to talk it through...he just sighed and said," well, just because they don't see it now, we can show them by example. We have a big back yard, can we grow some vegetables and fruit and give it to the hungry?"
"Sure" I said, " that is a wonderful idea."
I am so proud of my little boy. What a wonderfully open heart! Thank you for producing these commercial spots. My son is just one child who is listening to your message and then passing it on to others.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
