My Dad taught us to believe that the human is "The Inventor Animal", and so naturally became Earth's ruler -- to make the planet as free from suffering as possible, knowing that only by bringing peace to all living things could we humans gain it surely for ourselves.
But he noted that our human family got stuck in its worship of greed and unpeaceful competition, so has not yet learned that true peace for any and all living things can only grow as we live extremely simply and near wholly dedicate our lives to the relief of suffering in ALL living things.
He gave me two truths to help me learn:
"All of us are unsurpassedly special, equally so."
"If it can feel pain it has rights."
In Dad's best beliefs we find our path to survival. He has long ago graduated from this school we call Earth, and he asked us to write on his grave stone, "What I gave away I have."

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
