When my three sisters and I were young we were with our biological mother and father, but my mother would leave us all the time and my father had to take care of us until we were almost in middle school. I was 12 at the time, my sisters were 7, 13 and 14. We were taken from our home and split up into different foster homes because my mother and father where not able to provide for us, my sisters eventually returned home, and I choice to stay in Permanent Foster Care. I wasn't sure if I made the right decision at the age of 16, but I made a leap in a sense. Life was still rough for my sisters, my mother left them again, and they lived with my father and a year ago he started to have dementia. He is in the latter stage now where he cannot not feed himself and he is at the age of 67. People would think we would turn out to resent life and hate people, and be into drugs and other terrible things but it did not turn out like that for us... My oldest sister which is 24 now is Married with 2 beautiful children a boy and a girl,a wonderful husband, attends church regularly and is the pianist at her church. My second oldest sister is 23 she is very involved in church as well, is working on getting her college degree in computer graphics, she plans on getting married soon to a preacher. My Youngest sister is 18 she just graduated high school and is very independent and she is starting college in the fall, and I am 22 years old and I am 1 semester away from graduating college with a Sociology Degree, and plan on going on to get my master's Degree because I am going into Social Work myself. We have all came a long way and we see each other daily and we have a very close relationship with one another because we love each other as much or more than we ever had.. because we are family and we stick together.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
