I am in college now, trying to get my medical degree in anesthesiology. My dad says “You need to get a good job so you can support your family. I don’t want you to make the same mistakes I did.” But now the work I have to do to stay in college is too hard; I can’t handle it. I just want to quit and go and work with my dad. I suddenly remember the first time I went to go work with my Dad.
I was seven years old when he started doing construction. He would ask me “Kyler can you wash my tools for me?” I thought it was so fun. After I got older (about ten) I could do the harder stuff like pounding in stakes for the forms, like making a mold for jello.
When I was thirteen I started to see how hard he had to work. And during the winter it was even harder to pay the bills; you can’t do construction in the winter. We really had to pinch our pennies. It was very hard for our family.
I don’t ever want to work that hard just to scoot by in life! I can’t quit now. I need to get a good job so I can support my family. I can’t make the same mistake my Dad made. I need to stay in college.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
