On March 28th 2013 my mom received a call. It was from Metro Country Jail turns out it was my dad calling her saying that he got pulled over for not having a license and having opened beer cans & for speeding. He told my mom that he needs her help to get out, if not immigration can go and get him and send him back to Mexico since he doesn’t have papers. So the next day my mom got him a lawyer. The lawyer told my mom on how things are going to be with my dad, that he will keep her updated on how things are doing. When my mom and I went to go visit him she would always try not to cry, she would tell him positive things she always told him that when he comes out she would prepare his favorite foods and that we are going to be together soon.
Easter came and my mom and I thought that my dad would be out by not, but he wasn’t it was really difficult seeing my brother and sister sad cause they wanted to be with my dad. Once we got home from the park my mom went to the bathroom and started to cry her eyes out. She was there for about 10 to 15 minutes. Once she got out she had a big smile on her face and told me that everything is going to be okay and she went to my brother and sisters room and started to play with them. Suddenly my dad’s lawyer called that same day and told my mom that court went good and that the judge gave him a chance to stay in Utah but he had to pay some tickets and take some classes, he also can’t drive either.
The next 2/3 weeks he surprised my mom and well all of us at the front door of our house. I was such a happy child I was in tears and gave my dad a huge hug. When I was done giving him a hug my mom came and gave me a hug then she said “I told you that soon we were going to be together, and to never give up on what you love” and from there my mom and I knew that everything was going to be back to normal or even better and nothing can separate us again.
My mother is a strong women she, she never gave up on us when the hard times came. She always kept positive on everything when the negative comments and all the negative stuff came she managed to keep her head up and she didn’t let them bad stuff phase her. My mom is my hero for being a strong Responsible, caring and loving mother.
