I will never forget watching my son play soccer in Middle School. Coaches and Parents get very enthusiastic about the game and about winning and forget about basic values of fairness and fun. My son was never a star player, in fact he substituted in/out since the rules at that age made sure everyone played. With the score tied and time running out he was playing a defensive sideline zone. The other teams star offensive striker got the ball and was charging down the sideline with no one but my son in his way. Some how when they met the result was their star player on the ground with my son alone with the ball and a clear path to our goal. With his coach jumping up and down yelling 'go' 'go' and most the parents yelling for victory, my son foot dribbled the ball several yards towards the goal when he suddenly stopped and went back to the other player, helping him up and apologizing for knocking him down. I was never prouder of him then at that moment.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
