My wife goes to her mom's place during our kids school vacation. We were having a cordial chat on the evening before their departure. We talked in general about her plans during the vacation. Midway into our conversation I casually asked, "See we will be completing 6 years of our marriage this month. If you have to rate me as a husband on scale of 1 to 10, where would I stand".
I was a bit afraid of the score she is going to give - as a typical Indian male I rarely and reluctantly participated in household cores and taking care of the kid. Also due to financial and time constraints, I rarely give her any pocket money, buy her any gifts, or take her out. I thought she would rate me between 4 and 5. But to my surprise she rated me at 8. She also told that I am a better husband than I was two years back. She now feels understood, as I have been listening to her with lesser and feebler interruptions.
In the darkness of that night, lying besides her, I quietly smiled and felt thankful for the Counselling Diploma If completed a year back. I just got a handsome divident on my course fee.
