As I listen to the song, "on This Day , Oh Beautiful Mother", I reflect on how blessed I am.I have always been with children. I babysat my cousins since I was 8 years, and had a job babysitting a six week old little baby when I was 12. The love of being with children led to being a kindergarten -primary teacher for over 35 years and adopting my sons. Michael and Nicholas , as a single parent. I went to Kursk and Kaliningrad, Russia to adopt my sons.I remember their faces and I looked into their eyes,as I do now where ever I go. I look into face and eyes of my little grand daughter, Abby Helen, named after my mom.I bought roses on Mother's Day for the Blessed Virgin, my mom and for my Ciocia Genia. My Ciocia Genia , my Auntie Genia, was like a mom to me, Ciocia Genia , on that Christmas eve in 1932, when Grandma Josephina died ,leaving the family to be orphans, raised my mom and her brothers. My mom, Helen always smiled, as well as Ciocia Genia. My mom saved the memories of the family by writing and saving my first communion veil as well as her own.I love holding the hands of children ,like I held my grand daughter"s going down the stairs and the kindergarteners at school.I am truly blessed being a mom and grandma!

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
