I notice a few familiar faces in the crowd of students that overfilled the hallway at school, but none of the people really paid any attention to me. I crash into a girl about my age, she has the ‘deer in the headlights’ look in her eyes.
“Sorry. I wasn’t paying attention.” I say, helping the girl pick up her notebook and the papers that flew out of it.
“That’s really okay I wasn’t paying attention either…” The girl replies. I smile at her and remember the time that I crashed into another person in a situation similar to this and she became one of my best friends. I am suddenly thrown into a flashback.
My family and I were at the Leonardo Museum, looking at the new exibit of animals inside out. I saw this horse that you could see all the way through it. The digestive track was removed.
“That’s revolting.” I said. This girl behind me placed a hand on my shoulder.
“That’s not revolting that is fricken sexy.” The girl answered. I arched an eyebrow.
“You’re weird.” I told the girl. The girl smiled at me and told me that I was strange.
“I’m Jade, by the way.” The girl told me.
“Julie.” I answered. Jade smiled at me and takes my hand to the next animal. “Holy Mother of Odin! That camel in front of us is a three headed one!” I say to Jade.
“You’re a Marvel Comic fan too?” Jade asks. I nod and tell her that my favorite character in the Marvel Comic Universe was Loki. Jade gave me this big old fashioned bear hug. Jade and I then dub the camel that is in front of us the Fluffy camel. Our families walk over to us and look at the two of us like we are crazy. Jade actually asked if she can keep me… This was the start of a beautiful friendship between me and Jade. Suddenly I am thrown back into the present.
“Hey you in there?” The girl that I crashed into today asks. I smile and tell the girl I was just having a flashback and that crashing into her might be the start of a wonderful friendship and that I hope we have some classes together.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
