Sacrifice
I wake up at 7:15 am and realize I am going to be late for school. I hurry up and change, grab my stuff and walk out the house. As I was leaving my mom stops me and says “ Can i borrow twenty dollars to go buy some groceries?”. Usually I would give her the money but that was the money I was saving up to go buy some shoes that were on sale. As I was making the decision I start to remember about how my mom sacrificed a lot for me.
It all started when i was feeling sick and I had felt this way for a week. My mom would take me to a clinic that was close by to get myself checked out. During that week she would end up going to her work late or she would have to just miss a day because I was not getting any better. She would also spend a lot of her money buying me medicine or other thing that were supposed to help me. Then she left her work early and checked me out of school to take me to the hospital because it was an emergency.
While we were in the hospital my mom never left my side and every time a nurse or doctor came in she would always ask question on what they were doing. After a few test the doctor told us that we would have to stay at the hospital until I was healthy enough to leave. At that moment my mom called her work said “ I am quitting because she needed to take care of her son.” After that they moved us to us out of the emergency room into a room in intensive care.
We stayed in the hospital for two weeks and in those two weeks my mom learned about different medications and their side effects. Also my mom had to sleep on a couch that turned into a bed but, It felt like you were sleeping on the floor and she had to get use to hospital food. As all of this was going on I felt like I was getting punched in the face every time i saw my mom sleep on the couch. Then when we left I had to stay at home for a few months and my mom stayed with me all those months even though there were days where we did nothing.
As I snap back into reality my mom is looking at me and asks again If she can borrow money. I go and get my money and give her the twenty dollars that she needs. As i was giving it to her I say “ Thank you for sacrificing a lot for me.“ I gave her a hug and ran to school because I was late.
