I as raised by devoted Catholics and old school ways. My dad was a man of integrity and always preaching to myself and my four brothers about earning a honest living. He would say " I do not care if you do not go to college as long as you are making a honest living digging ditches or laboring , you will never have to look over your back." Well he also, paved the way for fighting for what you believe in. He was instrumental in the civil rights in a small town and made headway for all impoverished kids. As a Hispanic he gave a lot of people hope by demonstrating how far you can go when you persevere. It inspired me and my four brothers to lead by example, staying connected to the vine ,he had paved the way for. My father later became the first school board president in our small town, he was county commissioner, first Hispanic city inspector ,councilman and last appointed to the Railroad Commissioner by Governor Richards. Not too shabby for someone that was pulled out of school to work in the fields as a kid to help out his parents maintain the 10 siblings they had.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
