I'd like to tell you about a gentleman who had a vision. He works for a recycling company in Tucson, Arizona which puts people back to work. In his job, he saw more and more good, still useful items ending up in the landfills. He started offering these items to non-profit groups in the area for use in their offices. This went well, and he decided to open a Yahoo group to tell the city about it and see if anyone else would be interested in giving their unwanted items to others.
This concept and his dream are called Freecycle. Today we number over 900,000 members world wide in over 60 countries. It's been estimated that currently Freecycle members prevent 30 tons per day from entering our landfills.
It's a perfect circle - we do our part to help the environment and keep our world cleaner for our children and we build community values and ties within.
We are truly a group of optimists who are saving the world one gift at a time.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
