My mother is my hero. She resides in a country that is well known for its poverty and diseases. Amidst all that, she is a self-sacrificing woman who, although gave birth to only one child, has looked after more than 30 children. Not in an orphanage kind of arrangement, but from her home. The care she gives is the care that anyone would give to their own children. This she does without complaining nor expecting any rewards. On top of the children (some of whom are now grown up) are relatives that make up the kind of "extended families" as anyone that has stayed in Africa would imagine. She is not a rich woman, but will always share the little that she has to whoever comes home. I deeply admire her courageous and big heart.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
