Abram is my husband and my hero. He's a New Orleans Police Officer who has been through so much. Yet still, he stays strong, courageous and dedicated. His job has always been tough. He works in the most crime-stricken parts of New Orleans and he has to deal with a lot of traumatic situations - shootings, abuse, neglect, gruesome deaths, fights, aggressiveness and hatred towards him. He puts his life on the line every single time he goes out on the street. If you see him at work he is always putting 100% into it. If there's a situation he's there, jumping in with both feet. During Hurricane Katrina he stayed behind in pure darkness, water rising, not knowing what tomorrow would bring, but he did not once give up or leave. He stayed strong and survived helping fellow officers get to their families, keeping some from going off the deep end, comforting others emotionally, and finding shelter for some. He's unselfishly driven to help people. And that's why he's my hero.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
