I would like to share a heroic deed by my father, Salvatore DeVito Jr., during a family vacation to Florida. The action he did was not for fame but as a deed out of unselfishness and kindness.
As you see, we were driving past a magnificent resort called the Gaylord Palms when we saw two women driving out of the resort who instead of stepping on the brake, accidentally stepped on the gas and plunged into the lake that was in front of the resort. In a quick reaction, he told my mother who was driving to pull over. As she did, he jumped out of the car and he ran towards the lake and dove in; not to mention this lake was also twenty-feet deep. My sister, Samantha, who was also in the car with us quickly reacted by calling 911 to summon emergency rescue workers to the scene. Soon after, other people also jumped in and swam towards the car. As the car was plunging down to the bottom of the lake, my father pulled out one of the women and swam her towards shore. The other woman was rescued several minutes later and was pulled to shore but suffered many injuries. CPR was preformed on this woman for thirty minutes and then was later rushed to a hospital by ambulance. This was all being reported live as it happened by news helicopters flying overhead and was also on the evening news. Till this day, my father has never boasted or bragged about what he had done, however, for me that is a day that I will never forget for the rest of my life.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
