My mother, Dee Hiner-Garrelts is my heroine. She instilled in my brothers, sisters and myself the values that last a lifetime. Although she is only 5'2", she is a giant in my eyes.
She always stressed kindness to others and love of our fellow man as the keys to living a good life. She made sure each Sunday that we went to Sunday school, attended Vacation Bible school and church camp.
Whenever we had problems, mom was there to listen and to offer advice, but let us make our own decisions, even if they sometimes hurt us as people. She felt we would learn from our mistakes.
The values that she gave to me, and to the rest of the family have been passed on to her grandchildren. I am now the one who takes the grandkids to church, teaches them that love and kindness are the keys to a better life, and that a soft voice turns away wrath.
My mom, my heroine!!!! THANKS MOM!!!!

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
