I consider Mr. S. Ramakrishnan as my hero! He has been confined to a wheel chair after a fall while attending a selection examination for Indian Naval Officer about three decades back. He has lost complete movement and feeling of all the parts of the body right below his neck. True to the advice of the military doctor Dr. Amarjeet Singh who advised him - LIVE TO SERVE-- he has been living a spartan live to serve the rural poor of Thirunelveli District. He is now accommodating nearly 700 people in his AMAR SEVA SANGAM named after the military doctor. Thus Amar Seva Sangam stands out as the beacon of hope for the rural poor in his home district as well as serves people from far and wide. There are classes for Tailoring, Computer education, Toy Making, Dairy Farm etc. Many NGOs send their personnel for training in Physiothearpy etc... to Amar Seva Sangam. Sulochana Gardens where Amar Seva Sangam is located in Ayikudy-PIN 627 852 attracts people from far and wide and provides hope for differently abled personnel irrespective of caste, creed or social standing. His services have attracted publishing in various Indian as well as international magazines like Readers Digest etc.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
