My hero is my uncle Gabe. He just passed away this last spring; he was only 35 years old. He was always a caring, determined and fun person. At all the family get togethers he was always the life of the party and made everything we did into something exciting. I never really had a real father figure besides him; he made up for my mom and dad not being there my whole life. He made my siblings and me his life when there was no one else to take care of us. His kids (my cousins) and I were just like brothers and sisters; we did everything imaginable together. But as we got older our house burned down and we moved apart. So Gabe and his kids came up to visit every chance they got for 5 years until the day he passed away, so now we visit that side of the family more often than usual. But what I’m trying to get at is when I get older I want to be a hard working, dedicated father just like my uncle.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
