When I think about the person that has changed my life for the better only one person comes to my mind. My twenty-one year old aunt is an inspiration for me. It wasn’t always like that unfortunately. Being only three years older than me made us the best of friends. Even with my many siblings I still consider her out of anyone to be the one I am most comfortable around. My mother had me at the young age of eighteen so I lived with her most of my life. Growing up I was always the shy and timid one. You could never keep her quiet. But as the years went on she began pulling away from me, would go out to parties, and began screaming awful things at my grandparents. I was the only one that knew she did drugs, smoked, and drank on a regular basis. That’s a lot of pressure for a young kid. Especially, when I just wanted my best friend back. Eventually her party life caught up with her and she failed the tenth grade. She did manage to get her GED and went to college, where she got pregnant and moved back home. This may not sound like a story about my hero but all those things she did made me who I am today because it made me stray away from all those bad habits. I was quite mad at her for awhile but after she had her baby I went to live with her and she has completely turned her life around. She is now enrolled back into college and has two jobs to support her child. Seeing all her hardships she made it through made me see that anything I go through I can always make it through. She is the reason I have never given up on myself even though she has no idea she is this inspirational to me.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
