There are the obvious heroes... my mom and dad.. who adopted me at 6 weeks old and took me into their hearts and home. But there are the people you meet, maybe briefly, maybe for an extended period of time, but somehow they make an impression on you, make you see yourself in a better light or maybe just pass along words of wisdom that you keep forever. I had a mentor and boss in my first job as a bank teller, Mr. S, who taught me to never ever judge someone by their appearance that has set the tone for how I feel about all humans, that we have more in common than we have in differences. And my fifth grade teacher who put one of my essays in the local paper and wrote on my assignment that she wanted the first autographed copy of my first book. I'll always remember the gifts that those 2 people gave me for the rest of my life.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
