Though I am lacking in hard facts, I greatly admire the work of Pierre De Coubertin in bringing back the spirit of the ancient Olympic Games. Though the modern world has yet to adopt the "Olympic Truce" during the Games; the Olympic Village established during competition allows athletes from many nations to freely interact. The Baron felt that the true joy in sport was not in the victory but rather in the competition itself. "The main issue in life is not the victory but the fight. The essential is not to have won but to have fought well." These ideals need not only pertain to athletic competition but to every day life as well. For trying to re-create the Olympic spirit, Baron Pierre De Coubertin is one of my heroes.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
