An obviously impaired elderly white man stood waiting to cross extremely busy William Hilton Parkway here in South Carolina as the light turned red. Stopped for the red light, I noticed with heart in mouth as he stepped out heading across four lanes of traffic now waiting for the lights to momentarily go green. With heart in mouth, I feared he’d never make it!
But at that moment along came a young black man on a bicycle, also going to cross the Parkway. Without a moment's hesitation, the young man hopped off his bike and led the elderly man safely across to the other side.
I wanted to recognize and thank the young man for his actions but the heavy traffic made it impossible. He is one of my heroes!
Helping others … pass it on.
