I listed my Grandpa as my hero because he was family-oriented. He strove to be a stellar role model for my cousins, brothers, and myself. He attended church regularly, and was an active member of his community. He was a volunteer fireman, and the mayor of McGregor for a period of time. Although he knew he was flawed – he had smoked for at least twice as long as I’d been alive - he knew that he was an influence to others, and went out of his way to set a good example. He never smoked in front of me. I actually didn’t even know he smoked until three months after he died. Grandpa always put others before himself, and helped whomever needed aid. Grandpa was always very proud of his grandchildren, and attended every football and baseball game that he could, and as well as my One Act Play performances. If I ever need him, he was there for me. In conclusion, he was an amazing man, and if I can be half as good a man as my Grandpa, I will be a better man than most.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
