Debbi is a tireless advocate for human rights. She has spent the majority of the last 10 years working to aid those who are lost or injured while crossing the border into Arizona. Debbi is an artist and uses objects found in the desert to educate the public on the suffering that is happening day in and day out in the deserts of Arizona. She agrees that, yes they are crossing illegally, but they will come no matter what we do. Meanwhile they are dying and suffering from things that could be prevented; water, socks, shoes.
Debbi and her group, Samaritans go out into the desert everyday, placing gallon water jugs on desert trails in hopes that those in need will find it and drink, therefore saving their own lives. They also help those who are injured, find out if they want to call Border Patrol or continue on the 60 mile walk to Tucson.
Setting aside her own needs for others is where Debbi's heart lies and for that she is my hero, my friend, my inspiration and my sister.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
