My hero is my husband. While stationed in Iraq with the Marines during the 2003 invasion of Baghdad, he left his covered position and ran 400 yards, through enemy and friendly fire, to rescue an Iraqi civilian. Once he reached the man, he had to get both of them back to a safer area, so he picked the man up and carried him the 400 yards back to where his fellow Marines were. On their way back, a bullet grazed my husband's spine, but he continued on until the he and the Iraqi were safe. This Iraqi citizen, an innocent man, lived to see another day because of the selfless and courageous actions of a heroic U.S. Marine, my husband! Nothing makes me more proud.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
