Born and raised in Compton, California Selena joined a street gang at just the age of fourteen. After nearly ten years of the violent and toxic lifestyle, Selena discovered a new plan and hopeful purpose for her life. Since walking away and embracing her new found identity, she has been a victim?s advocate for over six years. She was a 1st Responder for the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) for the City of Los Angeles for over five years, where she worked closely with the LAPD and Sheriff?s Department. A true warrior and voice for justice, she was awarded "Top First Responder" for the most convicted cases presented by the Mayor of the City of Lynwood. Using her persevering testimony, and being a certified court accompanier and member of five task forces, Selena continues to provide guidance to victimized women and mentorship on how to testify with strength and dignity.
As a certified gang intervention advocate, street outreach coordinator, and "Hands that Heal" trainer by the Faith Alliance Against Slavery and Trafficking (FAAST) and Vanguard University Global Center for Women and Justice, Selena is able to bless other leaders with her wisdom and life experience, and help equip and train them to minister with integrity to victims of human trafficking.
For nearly two years, Selena has dedicated her mentorship and experience and she continues to encourage, inspire, and impact young women everyday. Her heart and soul is not just to help rescue these women and see them restored, strengthened, and changed, but to empower them to believe and dream again. To help them discover their true identity, and that they are worthy, valuable, and meant for a destiny of purpose.
Selena is Lead first Responder for Los Angeles based 3EI Operation RESCUED Human Trafficking Task Force.
