Mark is a man who chose to begin a personal outreach to homeless folks in and around Taunton, MA, whether in cardboard boxes, under bridges, or in abandoned buildings. He started simply, distributing socks, gloves and personal items from his personal funds. In his "spare" time, he managed to attain his paralegal degree; he assisted those who could or couldn't afford his services for tax preparation and legal assistance. His efforts did not go unnoticed, and eventually an organization, The Refuge, was born. This agency has now attained 501(C)3 status and serves meals, distributes donated footwear and clothing, personal items, gift cards and so forth. He presently serves as its vice-president and is a board member. Mark is a self-effacing man who shuns the spotlight or praise, seeking only to continue his personal mission to assist the homeless and underserved in his community. He is the finest example of compassion I have ever known (and I'm 65)!

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
