My hero is my mother, who became a single mother to my six siblings and me when I was 11 years old. Determined to give us the best life possible. my mother moved us from Chicago to her home state of Arkansas. With only a high school education and some college, she took a minimum wage job at a local television station. We were at poverty level, but we didn't know it. We never received public assistance and we always had food and clean clothes.
Within five years, my mom worked her way up to a director/producer position and was offered a much better paying position in Memphis, a large media market.
Of all her successes, my mother's prized accomplishment is keeping the family together. She is my hero. My best friend.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
