Edie Windsor is my hero because she challenged DOMA and won. For 44 years, she loved one woman with only her love for her mate being the bond between them. She had no license, just their love for each other. She loved as I have for 35 years. She has made it legal for me to marry the woman that I love. She has stopped the infringement of my civil right. It was a long struggle for her but she persevered. She challenged a wrong and made it right. She did it through the channels afforded us in America. She went forth with perseverance not violence. She stood up to injustice and won.
