Anthony is my son. I have been Type I diabetic for 40 years, so he was born with heart defects. He literally saved my life more than once when my blood sugar dropped dramatically. He called 911 at least 3 times (once at the age of 4). He also flagged down a police officer when he was 8 and I drove off the road again due to extremely low sugar. I am also a recovering alcoholic, and it is wholly because of him that I no longer drink. I almost lost custody, but I stopped cold turkey instead. He began martial arts training at age 10 and now teaches in areas that have populations that are struggling economically and with discipline. He also works at a local restaurant to provide for himself and his wife (who also works at the restaurant). He volunteers to speak to my students on career day to provide motivation for those who may not intend to go to college. Without him, I would NOT be alive today.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
