Manyang is incredible. We both attended the University of Richmond together, and he involved me in his story one day when he asked me to proofread a grant application for him when I was sitting next to him in the library. Since then, his genuine heart has been apparent in every conversation that I've had with him.
Manyang lived as a refugee along the border of Ethiopia and South Sudan for 13 years before moving to America. He has founded the organization Humanity Helping Sudan since arriving, and with organizations such as Whole Foods and Allegro Coffee, he has been able to send aid to the region with which he still has ties. This includes addressing the massive food shortages and dire health needs, as well as providing training and cultivation of indigenous crops with a community garden. His optimism and enthusiasm is infectious, his efforts are creative and far-reaching, and his work with the organization for the past 5 years has been tireless.
From refugee to advocate, he lives and breathes purpose to help the community he loves!

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
