My name is Brianna and I want to tell you about my best friend, Jes. Jes Metzger was a member of the US Air Force and was tragically taken from us on 03/15/14, along with three others, due to a car accident in Wichita, Kansas. They hired a driver to avoid drinking and driving and he suffered from a medical condition while on the road, causing the car to go out of control. Jes grabbed the wheel in attempt to save everyone. Her actions saved the life of a car stopped at a red light, she died a hero. Jes had many people who loved her dearly. Here in Philly, we are doing everything we can to continue her legacy. Jes was a popular and well loved member of the LGBT community and firmly believed in equality, and was also very passionate about putting a stop to bullying. Her dream was to begin an anti-bullying program and to be a mentor to children, as she was bullied herself as a child. This antibullying foundation in Jes' name is currently in the beginning stages. Jes believed that everyone had a voice and deserved to be treated equal. Jes had a smile that could light the room and the biggest heart in the world. She changed many lives and she is now living through her family and friends, we are all continuing her legacy. I am writing because we want Jessica's story to be heard. So many people have come together during this tragedy and it is because of Jes' love. She wanted to make a change in the world and left us with her love and passion to do so.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
