My hero is my mom, Sue, who has a fighter spirit! She has Hepatitis C, which she contracted through contaminated blood. She endures, thrives, and gives in spite of a multitude of health problems. She had a liver transplant in 2007, and immunosuppressants have left her vulnerable to breast cancer, then shingles, and pneumonia. Being an insulin-dependent Type 2 diabetic is also a challenge. She doesn't complain, takes good care of herself, and is right down spunky! Our lives aren't what we imagined, but it's a road that has taught us so much about what's important in life and what's not. We appreciate and admire the medical professionals who have treated and cared for Ma without thinking it was their job.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
