My hero is my husband Robert, He loved me when I thought no one would. We have been married for three years and when we first met it was difficult. I spent years in abusive relationships and I did not trust anyone. He was soft spoken and kind but yet I was afraid. I would not let him in my heart until the day he showed me what it felt like to be safe. He stayed in my life from a distance until I felt comfortable with him. I pushed him away and he let me know he was there when I needed him. God spoke to my heart and told me he was the one he hand selected for me. Robert took me into his heart although I was broken, He accepted everything about me. He showed me how to love and how it felt to be loved. He loves my children as if they were his own. He taught me that love is not always easy but when you truly care for someone you never turn your back on them. A hero doesn't have to wear boots and a cape, they rescue you from the pain of your past and the hurt just fades away. They protect you from harm and you no longer feel lost because they always lead you back to where you belong. My hero works all day in the cold of winter and the heat of summer, he amazes me with his strength and yet his gentle heart overflows with kindness. He is my hero because he loves me through the darkest storms and never lets me drown in the past.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
