As she watches her mother fight breast cancer this year, Rachel has persevered, believing that if anyone can beat the illness, it's her mother, Bernice. Through the chemotherapy, hair loss, and emotional hardship, Bernice has thus far defeated the hardest of enemies, a malady that threatened her health and happiness. Despite her mother's progress, Rachel decided that she wanted to help increase awareness of the disease that infects one in seven women sometime during their lifetime. Last year, Rachel marched proudly in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer-Boston Walk. But that wasn't enough for her, who, faced with her mother's continuing struggle, wanted to take on a more personal project. Rachel started a fund coordinating through Brandeis University to raise a targeted sum of $1500. Within a few days, donations began to pour in, mostly made in the name of Bernice and her compassionate daughter. It is Rachel's hope that even women without the strength and wherewithal that her mother possesses will also get the chance to live on.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
